Ice Cream & Airplanes

We managed to jam pack a lot of fun into this week! Monday started off very lazy. I was having bad round ligament pain on both sides, was extremely dizzy and felt really uncomfortable. It rained off and on all day so we spent it inside watching movies and destroying the living room. But what we lacked on Monday we made up for the rest of the week.

Tuesday we met up with our friends and walked to the metro to head downtown to the museums. We spent the morning exploring the Air and Space Museum and the boys had a ton of fun piloting the airplane.

Eventually we decided to head back home so all the kids could go down for a nap. We made it back just in time to catch a late nap and the boys passed out….until they both woke up with dirty diapers. Fail. Jackson was clearly not ready to be awake and spent the rest of the evening being a fussy pants. We grabbed dinner from the Whole Foods hot bar and ate it picnic style at the park while the boys ran rampant. We eventually packed it in in time to head home for baths, story time and sleep.

Wednesday we trekked back to the metro. The kids love to ride the train and it’s incredibly convenient as a one car family. We headed to Whole Foods for their weekly kids activity hour. As usual we were ridiculously early so we grabbed third breakfast from the hot bar. They don’t call it Whole Paycheck for nothing.

We played around outside for awhile before it was finally time to make our way to the activity center. My littlest was in an extra lovey, huggy mood. My favorite ❤

On the agenda: ice cream in a bag! We met up with our good friends and the boys had such a blast shake, shake, shaking their bags to make ice cream.

Our bag ended up exploding so our ice cream turned into more of a milk shake but it didn’t stop the boys from devouring it all.

On our way home we stopped at the fountain to play in the water. Splash, splash, splash!

We metroed home just in time to get caught in a torrential downpour and ended up soaking wet with 2″ of rain in he stroller. But it was a great day and after toweling off and changing into warm, dry clothes we all passed out. The boys slept until 4pm! We ended the night with Boston Market, Netflix and some ice cream.

We didn’t have any set plans for the rest of the week but with crazy humid, high 90 degree weather Thursday we booked it to the park as soon as the boys woke up so we could at least get some energy out. We took a long walk and ended at our favorite neighborhood park where the boys played hard for an hour or so. We left red faced and sweaty haired by 9am, always a sign of a good time.

Friday we went to a local trail and I ran walked 3mi with the boys. When we finished we swung by the house to collect daddy for a breakfast date (he worked Thursday night so he had Friday “off” after arriving home at 3am). After breakfast the boys and I walked across the street to the brand new library to meet friends for a play date while daddy went to his idea of heaven, Home Depot. The library was really beautiful. They did an awesome job designing the building and had an entire floor dedicated to kids with various activity centers. The boys had a blast until we ran into a very rude mother who kind of killed the entire morning for me. By 11am we were ready to head out, just as daddy arrived. Perfect timing. An amazing and rare 4 hour nap followed!!!! Then we went grocery shopping and I cooked dinner for what felt like the first time in months! We ended the evening by showing daddy our new ice cream making skills, read some new books we picked up at the library and then had a mommy/daddy Netflix date. It was a really great week and I’m hoping the rain forecast for the upcoming one is way off! Hope you had a great week too!
